FIRST is a grade the state gives each year. It shows how well a district handles money.

In Leander. The grade fell from an A (98 points) for 2024-25 to a C (79) for 2025-26. The district has appealed that grade, and the final grade is not out yet.1

Everyday comparison. It is like a report card for the business office.

Related terms: annual audit, credit rating. Read more: bond ratings.
