In short
- The county had about 311,000 properties on the books in 2026, up from about 255,000 in 2021. That is about 22% more (our math).12
- Three school districts hold about 72% of the value: Round Rock, Leander and Georgetown (our math).12
- The fastest growth in property count was in Jarrell, Liberty Hill and Hutto. Jarrell added about 73% more properties (our math).12
Numbers marked “our math” are our estimates, not official figures. The notes show the inputs and the steps.
How it works
- Every property in the county sits inside one school district. The appraisal district adds up the value in each one.1
- This page uses market value. That is the appraisal district’s price before exemptions and caps come off.1
- It counts only the part of each district inside Williamson County. Some districts, like Leander ISD, also reach into nearby counties.

- Round Rock ISD is still the biggest, but its share fell. Other districts grew faster.2
- Taylor ISD’s value more than tripled, from about $2.6 billion to about $9.4 billion. Its number of properties grew only 13% (our math).12 See why taylor isd value jumped.
How many new properties are homes?
- Most new buildings in the county are homes. In 2025 the appraisal district counted 8,179 new or growing home properties and 524 business ones. That is about 94 of every 100 (our math).34
- But business projects add more value per project. New business buildings added about $6.3 billion in 2025.3
- Taylor shows this well. See why taylor isd value jumped.
The other side
- A falling share does not mean falling value. Round Rock ISD’s value still rose, from about $40.9 billion to about $57.1 billion (our math).12
- Market value is not what gets taxed. Exemptions and caps take a lot off first. See from market value to taxable value.
- The Round Rock ISD row has a gap we could not explain. Its 2026 market value is about $3 billion more than the sum of its value types. We used the market number as printed.
- A “property” can be a house, a lot, a business or a piece of equipment. More properties does not always mean more homes.
Questions to ask
- Will the appraisal district report new homes by school district?
- Where does the appraisal district post value totals for each school district?
Changes to this page
- Nov. 2, 2026: Added questions to ask.
What you can do or watch next
- See what the county value is made of for homes, land and business value.
- See where new residents come from for where new people are moving from.
What we still don’t know
- How many new homes each school district added. The county report gives a county total only.
