In short
What the leases are
The county rents out some buildings and land. The audit says the leases cannot be canceled. It reports them as a group, not one by one.1

Something that does not match
The audit says the leases end “no later than October 2027.” But its own table shows payments due through 2035.1
What the audit does not say
It does not name the renters or the properties.
The other side
- The rent is small. The county earned $230,687 in lease rent in 2025.1 Its main fund budget that year was $332,453,828.2
- The leases cannot be canceled. The audit says so. That means the county can count on this rent until the leases end.1
Questions to ask
- Which buildings and land does the county rent out, and to whom?
- How does the county explain the gap between the lease end dates and its payment table?
- How does the commissioners court set the rent?
